CRC 1182 at Science Day 2025
Science Day in Kiel – Sharing Research with the Public
On 26 September 2025, CRC 1182 participated in the Science Day of the KielRegion, part of the Europe-wide Science Summer. The event offered visitors of all ages the opportunity to engage with science through hands-on experiments, exhibitions, workshops, and live demonstrations hosted by research institutions across the region.
As part of the programme, researchers from CRC 1182 presented the digital science poster Digital Meta to share research on the interaction between host organisms and microorganisms, talk about their work, and answer questions from the public. In addition, the creative hands-on activity “Pop-up Card: The Sponge and Its Microorganisms” was offered, attracting particular interest from children and families. The open and curious atmosphere demonstrated how events like these help make current research more accessible and engaging for a broad audience.
